Don't know what he was thinking but think this time he might be gone for good. We can talk about how silly he is like the media but perhaps that was his plan :/ conditions are real bad out there especially for such a little boat.

Sorry, I have very little sympathy for this bloke, SA s largest air and sea search was conducted just two weeks ago looking for these blokes, I have no issue with that but to head out to sea without the appropriate safety gear and it would appear having not repaired the prop and made the boat seaworthy is just asking for trouble.
I hope he is found safe and well but the authorities need to crackdown on his behaviour.

What i dont understand is how the first search cost $650,000? How? A helicopter and a few boats cant be that expensive to run for a few days surely? Someone is doing well out of it alright... they would saved half a million bucks if they just bought the guy a decent 100k boat in the first place.

"Debris has been sighted" Latest report.
Off to Davey Jones locker for sure.
Looks like it will be a recovery mission instead of a rescue this time. These are some items they have found that are consistent with the missing boat.

I once remember reading that they paid someone $8000 to replace a toilet seat in parliament house.

I guess that you have never had the opportunity to pay the running costs for a helicopter. It's a bit different if the engine on your car stopped but if the engines on helicopters or aeroplanes stopped you have only one way to go, down. Maintenance and the amount of fuel they use are way different than your average car. Plus all the other fees involved with using airports.

About time they started charging these people for some of the costs involved.

Cheers

Nor did Bronwyn Bishop

Bishop refused to resign over the expenses claim, describing it as an "error of judgement", while expressing disappointment that the controversy had become a distraction from the opposition and its policies. However, she agreed to pay back the sum of the helicopter flight plus a penalty of $1,307.

Give it a rest fwdoz.

Cheers

This guy is a clown, he hasn't got a boat licence, had been fined for having out of date flares and was rescued a couple of weeks ago.

If he's not dead, he's shark bait.

I have actually (if only monentarily). Back in 85 i remember paying $50 for a 15 minute joyride. The guy was doing them for years, so assume he was on ok money. Thats why i question 650,000 for a short period. I know there was planes and boats also.. i just hate the way when the gov. Buys something the price inflates. Was jist on news today how the gov. Bought an airport property worth 3 mill and instantly offer to pay 30 mill without even being asked. Fricken bunch of crooks in collars some pollies are.

Back to point im sure the cost are high but i jist feel they are paying a p taking over inflated price to run everything because its government. Agree the rescue should be held responsible over the bill if alive still.
The boat guy.is pretty irrisponsible though. His boat should have been confistcated and scuttled after the first rescue, to save the fuy from himself and cost to public. Too late now though :)

It says in an article that the search are was bigger than the size of Tazzie, I'm sure they spent longer than the 15 minutes joyride you took to search a large area

Haha. Just a little bit bigger. I also realise there where other vehicle used in the search. Still seems very steep. I wonder why they dont use drone technology for these type of searches yet? Would seem to be an ideal tool for this type of job.can buy a lot of drone(s) for $650,000. :Y:

650,000, doesnt take long to rack up, there was a RAAF Poseidon aircraft, so probably a minimum crew of 5 or 6 plus supporting ground crew, numerous helicopters 2 or 3 crew each plus ground crews, search and rescue craft, police boats, ground search crews, coordinating staff and supports etc. I think the search from memory was three to four days.
I have no issue with the costs of these types of events, what I do have an issue with is his complete lack of accountability for his actions and him going missing again whilst in an ill prepared boat.

Remember Tony Bullimore?
