The Oallen ford bridge proposal is a comedy of errors, last September/October I saw a container on site and lots of steel reinforcing placed on site for the contractor to start work, however the word is that it is indefinitely delayed , seems someone in government did not do due diligence and the land is the subject of a Aboriginal land claim. The planner subsequently got the sack, I have seen surveyors out there looking at the bottom side so the original site may get altered.

cheers

Barry

The new (revised bridge plan) is available, it will be downstream of the current causeway/bridge and 3 meters higher than the original proposal - that will mean the crossing will remain open with most of the flooding that occurs there. Work is expected to start Jan 2015.

Cheers

Barry

How down the river, looks like they are going to build next door?

Downriver side of present bridge as apposed to the top side as previously planned as well as remove the hairpin bend from Goulburn side, I saw the council guys surveying it one day last September.

cheers

It has been a comedy of errors. The original bridge easement was across a land claim, and the council engineer lost his job over it. Sorry if this info has already been posted.

Reckon anyone would notice if I was in there doing "nightshift batter excavations" couple of flashing lights on the truck and some hivis and i could almost get out with a truckload of gravel without stirring up anyones emotiins

Yep,
The safety raining on the new bridge does not permit entry to the riverside they say.
Yet I seen a perfectly good access blocked off with a cable across it.
The locals are not happy about it either.

Maybe some bolt cutters and angle grinders could get involved ;)
(Just joking people. I wouldn't do it or recommend it)
