To right, great effort doc!
I've done this before, and last time I said I wouldn't let it happen again.....and I did.
Got down to 78kg which is heavier than the books say I should be, but I feel about right at that. 1st week and I'm on about 1000 cals a day, and doing a bit of exercise. Some days I've been on as few as 800 cals, and that is hard! After this week, 2nd week, I'm going to up my calorie intake a bit, but also increase intensity of exercise. Maybe spend a day on my 4500 and find some hills. Still around 32 deg here in the day, throw some extra weight in my day pack, and swing for a good 10 hours.

You look much healthier for it too in your avatar DrDuck. Well done.
He does indeed heatho, pity we can't say that about davents picture in his avatar

I'll never forget the episode where old Frank was giving some intimate attention to the actress who played Mrs Doyle in Father Ted. She had a great figure, that's for sure.

And thanks for the compliments, the fat picture was 10 years ago, and I was pretty unhealthy back then.

i did it once, 700 cals a day with 5 km walk on top of my work day. result 20kgs in 20 days , started to think i had the big c and stopped.
when straight back to my normal weight. might try again one day but not as hard next time.

And by the look on your wife's face she looks worried.

I lost about 20kg recently by changing my breakfast and lunch to a bacon and egg roll brunch. This takes me through to dinner with maybe some nuts or a piece of fruit if need be. I found the cereal gave me too much of a high and I became quite hungry for lunch. So I've replaced two meals with a high protien and fat meal with a little carbs. I don't wake up hungry now either. I tip my hat to Davent and all those in this thread that were able to turn to weight around.

Well done Dave, for some people losing weight is harder than giving up the grog or ****.

The Dr has the right formula, weight control is about 80% diet and 20% exercise. If you show a big person how much food they should be eating they will tell you they would starve but that is because they are not satisfied unless their stomach is full and their stomach is five times bigger than it needs to be to hold the food needed to support them.

Sugar is the main problem, it is in everything and in quantities that most people wouldn't believe. Most people wouldn't sit down and eat 9 teaspoons of sugar but they will down a can of drink and think nothing of it.

Plenty of protein, control your carbs and eliminating sugar seems to work best for most people trying to lose weight.

Processed food is bad because most of it has excess sugar that is only added to feed peoples addiction and does nothing to improve the flavor.

Well Dave,,

If you manage to change you dietary habits, exercise routine and lose weight, you have my backing and congratulations.

I am 6' 4" and 54 years old and started out at 125 kilos in October 2014. I give blood/plasma regularly and the blood bank and doctor said that I need to reduce my blood pressure.

Almost 2 years ago I changed my eating habits and drinking habits. I tried my own version of the 5/2 diet. I work a 7 on 7 off roster at a coal mine drive in drive out, 6 hr drive home. The day that I drive to work and the next day I do not eat at all (coffee or tea only), 4 days normal and then the next 2 days the same as the first 2 days. I no longer have alcohol after work while at camp. Weather and light depends on if I walk a lap around the camp.

My habits at home are the same as previously as I enjoy a nice feed and a cold drink.

I can't complain as I have lost 25 kilos in this time. I love the change but the missus reckons there is nothing to cuddle up to now.

My blood pressure is now lower and the blood bank and doctor are off my back. Getting out bush now with the wife more often is also helping.

Congratulations Dave.

Cheers :)

Doug

I admire anyone with discipline to lose weight sensibly and keep it off. I'm 6'2 and down to 110 kilos, used to be similar size to early model Dr Duck. have changed diet since retiring, more fruit and veggies now. Currently 1 day away from Marble Bar where hope to get more exercise chasing the elusive color. Will never stinge on H2O in this country. Target weight is 90 kilo to get weight off worn out knees.

84kg this morning. Getting sick of walking. Doing 8-10km nearly every day, 40 laps of the Olympic pool every 2nd or 3rd day. Having 1 indulgence day of food a week. No real coke or beer for 3 weeks so far......thirsty!

Your Getting there Dave, keep up the good work, My weight loss has slowed down, I am down to about 74.5 since my first post on this thread, I was 76kgs.

Last Friday I thought I would take a day off and have some junk food ( TakeAway) but that's about the only time in months, But I did find it easier walking, Not a lot but a bit easier.

John.
