Builder Sam Notaro has constructed a five-foot high, earth barrier around his newly-built 1m home in the flood-stricken village of Moorland in Somerset.

Sam, 40, built his four-bedroom, detached home in the middle of a four-acre plot which is the highest point in Moorland and has never previously flooded.

But he has had to build the the barrier to stop water getting into his home.

He said: "All around the house is completely flooded but because we've built a band around it we've managed to stop it actually coming into the house.

"If we hadn't have put the band around the house it would be completely flooded now.

"I'm determined to stay here and look after it." :lol: :lol:
