Nice... The wash I've dug that is that consistency, has been more of a yellow sand. Gold baring area, quartz fragments etc, but no gold :(

I am greatly 7nterested in the method employed to engage such a feat. Can you assure me this was conducted under the conditions as outlined within a miners right, or is this being conducted under a differing set of circumstances?

I commend any hand dug workings to the depth you have indicated but in in conducting such a feat it must be over a long period of time, by a tenacious individual, or multiple individuals!

Panda I can assure you it was picked and shovelled by me and with buckets lifted out by missus then dry blowing shared by both of us. It took 2.5 days of sweat but it's entirely achievable. It is the thought of it that stops ya doing it. Having the time to do it without full time job is massive help otherwise it's a weekend egoist which seems even more out of reach. We haven't hit it rich yet but with perseverance I'm sure we will :D

Clearly then I can only lament you are not employed by a private enterprise. I am familiar not only with those employed to do excavation works both mechanical and non mechanical but also from a project co-ordination postion from a previous time, pipe and tank laying over various sizes and distances. Im certainly intrigued all the same, I can only envisage what you might achieve when tasked. The renumeration in such pursuits may surprise you!
Edit.. nvm :8

Ok first off, sorry no pic of wash as by today it had all dried out and just looked like dirt.
Cleaned out the bottom of the hole and took everything out a 6 inches into decomposed bedrock and a foot above and a foot extra out of the walls. No defined wash layer but pockets of it. Got pretty excited when there was a depression like a natural bowel at the bottom but no 87oz nugget in it :(
Put everything through the dry blower in reverse from top of hole ending wish stuff from bottom (to let it dry). Could have been drier but hot air from 151 did a good enough job. Aimed the blower back into the hole so to backfill.
Packed up the gear, went to start the car and bugger me the interior light was left on, flat battery
Didn't know anyone out that way so tried to call the local mechanic (on holidays so no answer)
Walked to the highway and to nearby house ( sorry love hubby has the jumper leads)
Called wedderburn tyre service to see if they could give us a jump, bloke came out within 10 mins and gave us a jump, nice guy and didn't charge a cent  good ole country service.
Had a swim in a river on the way back and washed the cons, got a few specks

Tomorrow we begin agin but this time it'll be in a shallow lead
Happy days

This to me would have to be the best try I have ever seen mate.
I could just imagine the hopeful look on your face when you hit bedrock but to be only rewarded for a few specks.
Have you been rewarded.? Yes,
Did you enjoy yourself.? Yes.
Have you learnt a lot from your experience. Priceless.
Don't ever, ever give up.
Now go take a week off to contemplate your next move. You may have missed the big one by 1 foot to the right. :D
Or left...

Tathradj thanks for the complements mate, no rest for the wicked, im starting another tomorrow, 4-5 footer though . Got a good feelin bout the next.... I hope

Well, At least he now knows what the old timers did.
Much, much deeper than that straight down through solid rock.
At least my weak attempt in a hole was exciting for about 10 seconds.
When the rusty nail I detected showed up in the rotting board above a capped shaft.
A cat had nothing on me as I stared with gaping eye's at the inky blackness under my feet.
I take my hat off to you mate and better luck next time.

Fair effort there mate, as an expierenced digger told me once " the problem nowadays is some people are to lazy even to just dig a hole, they'd rather sit at home and do f##k all"
You obiviously don't fit in that category, to dig a hole of that depth, to find such little gold, and then to make plans to go out and do it again....... Onya mate ;)

Strike me flamen pink....
Bloody good effort.....
Bugger only a little colour ....
At least you had a crack ...
Bloody well done .....
Good luck on the next dig...

Cheers Nanjim
