I usually throw away about a kilo of rubbish each hunt. Tying a plastic bag to your belt for your rubbish is good until you fill it up and it starts to belt you in the knee cap when swinging the detector.
The good thing about Sydney is that there are only a hand full of detectorists that do parks and I pretty much know all of them.
Lots of virgin ground still available.
