All you need is a high set highbanker
that sprays 2 jets in the top box
the jets will break up your clay problem
and as it breaks down, the rock is released
over the grizzly bars, and bob's your uncle

I worked a section like that bench at creswick. The clay was that anoying stuff that gets harder the mkre you work it. Best way i found was to dig a decent stockpile then jump on it.. literally. I wasnt overly concerned with losing gold in the clay because the gold was quiet chunky anyway.

I seen similar spots out creswick but this place is about 30km the other side of ballarat, not creswick side either. What are your suggestions mate?

Lol must be smythesdale then :) i found the majority of float gold was up top as you would expect and the chunky stuff amoughts the large rocks. As you would expect. Smythesdale has heaps of flat flaky gold in its pipeclay as well so id be testing that. Take three buckets. Seive a bucket sample of pipeclay hit that with yoir drill at home. Test the large rocks which will most likely b3 packed with a burnt looking clay with red rings throught it. And test the very top. Thisbsimple test should tell you which layer to process fo most efficiency. If you have a dollt smash the odd quartz sample as well .

Hi Mate,
Good idea with a high banker with dual spray bars. That is what I have.

Have a look through this post from last year.
.
The classifier is cable tray and allows 3 x 5 mm through. If you are working mongrel clay, There would be no problem sticking some 4 mm square mesh in for classifying. This will hold the rocks and clay under the spray pattern and do the hard yards for you.
I am going to do this for Oallen Ford next time I am there. Might do the same for Tuena.
This is the reason I built the spray bars like it.
Hammers clay down beautifully and wash's rocks off nicely.
Just keep an eye on what is on the mesh screen before discarding it. You just may miss a picker.

That's a mad little setup there Doug

I'm almost considering putting some expanded up the top too, but that'll make it a pain to scrape rocks out

Idk I'll see how my idea goes for now and go from there

I'll do some more test panning too only got just under a gram when I went out Saturday :-( was a bit disappointed

I have to agree mate I can't see the logic behind I guess gold does funny things to people, especialy funny people I guess it's a screwed up way of weeding out the bad friends :-/ but of a lame way to do so but in the end you know they just weren't worth it

LOL,
You are too far away for me to be a threat but I have outlined this before.
If,
You had a tough secret spot and needed a hand,
There is no way in this world that I would tell any one else where it is or about it.
IF I ran my Banker on your spot and found good gold, I would not want it all, No way.
I would at least work a deal on the biggest piece I found depending on how big it was.
It is bad luck not keep the first picker or SMALL nugget. And that would have to go through my Banker.
Basically all I would want is the friendship and experience and a memento. :D
Don't get me started on a few beers. PMSL.
That will cost you.
.
Besides, The ground rules would be set before the event and I work better on a hand shake.
Yeh, I know gold does funny things to folk's at times but it would not be worth fighting over.
Life is to short. :D

I'm not worried about you doug, if you come down chances are you'd. E staying at my place hopefully and if you wish your welcome to turn that ground upside down anytime you like. I appreciate the gesture mate but what ever you get you earn it therefore get to keep it all
