Ridge Runner, personally I think you have been given the wrong info mate. The flu shot Cannot give you the Flu.The cells are dead.
I have had shots for the past 8 years as recommended by my cardiologist and have never had a sniffle, mind you I don't purposely put myself in harms way either. By that I mean I don't visit shopping centres, schools, hospitals or doctors surgeries, i.e. any place that I could be infected.
My suggestion to anyone over 50 or has chronic diseases you should Think about getting a ***.
Oh, by the way , don't kiss your grandkids if they go to pre-school, they carry mor germs than a toilet seat.

RR: In my almost 15yrs in the health field i dont agree with your statement and i am calling it anecdotal.
Also were i work all the workers get the *** for free each year and not once have i seen all the staff get sick all at once.

GP's over here in the UK were instructed to say the same thing, But their claims of people not getting sick made the national news when the Hospitals got inundated with sick people and then some of the staff got ill as well,

Well over 100,000 got sick 231 people died and the GP's have been told not give flu jabs because they are not working and what ever strain of flu it is It is killing people of all ages, even young fit and healthy people. this was only up until February.

I just wonder RR how many would of died without the shot?
Take your memories back to the 1918 influenza pandemic which killed millions

Kindest of regards Dan

Mate do do honestly believe anything in the daily mail?

Not a 100% about it but when it makes the national news and they have doctors on the News channel warning people about it does raise thoughts of concern, even more so when over 4.5 million people get sick in just one week alone,

But some folks react to the jabs some don't, most people I know do, I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I would not wish the flu on my worst enemy, People should just be aware that having the *** can/might put them at risk.

I watch people and see the same thing every year, sure not everyone will get sick from a flue ***, but those that do pass it on to others. And no ones getting sick untill the jabs are getting given out for free... once that starts the flu starts ! And nothing anyone can say is gunna change real facts.... and That's a fact !
8) 8) 8)

Lone Wolf, thank you.
Most people that get the flu after they have a shot, have already been infected prior to that shot.
Anyway, each to their own.
In Brisbane we have people clogging up the Emergency sections of our hospitals because they have the flu and. Taking up valuable time and resources that could be spent on SICK people.
Just sayin.
PS
Don't get the Flu people.

I just recon that because we live on an island (big suckers too) we should be able to make other nations nip the virus trippers in the bud before they get into their airport facilities, as well as us doin the same once they reach here.... just mask em up n turn em around if they have a high fever temperature... if they're Aussies comin home then isolation till well enough to not spread anything.
That's my Utopian view. :D

Wash ya hands constantly through out the day..Stay away from crowded areas during flu season..If you see someone coughing bypass them and hold ya breath..Works for me :Y: :D For those that choose to get the *** I hope they get it right for you this year :Y:

I should get the ***. About 25 or 30 years ago I had a proper flu and it put me in bed for two weeks. I was wretched. As a result I always smile when people with a sniffle or a cold say they have the flu. It took me a couple of months to get over the episode and get back to firing on all cylinders, and that was when I was young and healthy!

So rest up and look after your self Heatho.

Hi DrDuck

I too had a very serious flu bout several years ago that landed me in hospital for 4 weeks. It eventually became pnuemonia. It was this that led to my diagnosis of COPD( Emphysema) with a 40% permanent loss . Now i have the Flu( each year) and pnuemonia ( Five Yearly)jabs . Booked in this Thursday for my flu ***.

That's every public place every day of the year :N:. Got the flu for the first time in at least 10 years last August when we went to the Con Coast for a family holiday. I ended up with sweats, shivers and aches and a day in bed but had to tough it out thank God for whisky and the flue tables :Y:. I was ready to jump on a plane and head home and I never call a cold The Flu. Only ever had it about 4 times and every time it knocks the life out of me.

Hi Mackka

I concur with what you say. Have the shot and protect yourselves. As Mackka said it is not the shot but you going to places where it is spread easily. The classic place is pre schools and kindergartens.

Yes the vaccine does use a dead strain of the infuenza virus but i think the rest of your statement is mostly anecdotal

It's not anecdotal at all. It's a fact that everyone I know who has that *** Gets sick every winter and I have had One cold since 1993 and that was in 2002 and I have not even had the sniffles, and my brother ended up in bed for a week my mother ended up in hospital and my son ended up sick for about 3 weeks.

Don't tell me it is anecdotal, I am not super human and suffer with some health issues and I can think of at leased a dozen members of the family and friends that end up sick every time they have those jabs.

Thats the very definition of anecdotal, i.e., evidence collected in a casual or informal manner and relying heavily or entirely on personal testimony [Wikipedia]. The weight of scientific evidence is overwhelmingly opposed to your conclusion, despite your observations.

I get the flu shot each year, not so much for myself but for those around me. In particularly the elderly, the young, people on immunosuppressant medication. Sometimes the nurse is cute, and usually I get a free lollipop.

LOL, thats Great quoting Wikipedia a source that can be edited by the whole world 247/7/365.

Seeing is believing, I base my actions on what I have seen, If you think that you need to have the jabs then that is your choice based on what you have seen, The scientific evidence you talk of is fuelled by people who get paid for how many jabs they hand out and as a major source of income their views are not valid, Pretty much like all the thousands of women who had mesh implants that have had their personal lives ruined because doctors told them that it would cure all their issues and now those same women are having to have the mesh removed from vital areas of their bodies and after these so called scientific people and doctors lied and tried to tell these women that there was nothing wrong with them, So now the government stepped in to get these doctors to do what is right,

Guess what ? The Doctors "Sold Out" where money became their Priority,,, Imagine That,

If some of you feel the need to have those jabs then go for it and good luck, stay healthy.
