What's a Holden?

something the government should be flogged for loosing ]:D

Disagree with that strongly, They poured $2.1 billion into Holden from 2010 onwards.
Since 2010 Holden's sales dramatically decreased year by year and they kept their hand out
their collective heads in the sand.
Everyone was buying Corollas, I 30's etc, not Large 6 or V8's.
And they treated their customers like sh!t , as can bee seen in the ACCC's finding and Holdens admissions.
https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/holden-undertakes-to-comply-with-consumer-guarantees

And a lot of that Govt Grant went offshore, back to GMH, USA.
Grab a beer and listen to why they really shut down

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uFYW5tMoeg

They even pinched the tv ad from the Septics.

Yes , the Detroit mafia raped us for decades with intentional deliberate fraud.

Sadly , its only the tip of the iceberg.

This country is ripped for 100s of billions by sepp with sophisticated predatorial scams.

Slave nation. ]:D

Ya know I thought you Guys were just taking pi$$ about "Whats a Holden" I honestly did not know that they have shut down until I just read Wikipedia, I Can't believe that they have gone and now they are just importing Cars, In the past few years they started selling the Monaro and the Maloo V8 Ute over here but they put Vauxhall Badges on them,

So what are the V8 Super Cars no longer made ? and what happens about Bathurst, ?

My apologies on the post that was removed.
It only dawned on me seconds after I hit the submit button :N:

Don't be Sorry, I thought it was funny, I am old enough to remember how people would clown around about the Holden and Ford as in which is best ? They were happy days and as the years have gone by I realized that although I loved Fords and Chargers I also have the same passion for Holdens, They were a part of my life, from my LC Torana to the Red with a White Roof One Owner Low Mileage EJ Wagon that I restored for my Mum back in 1986,

In 1984 I bought a Bright Red VH Commodore Sedan and the Mrs bought a new Silver VK Wagon and my Brother bought a light Blue 4.2 VB Commodore Wagon. and in 1983 I had a HJ Statesman and in 1985 I had a HJ V8 Sedan.

Looking at the above you would never Guess I was in the Ford Camp, but they were my Car of Choice.

I used to like yank V8s, and had quite a few of them. Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Mercury Cougar and Cyclone Comet to mention a few. Then one day I bought a real car; Porsche 911 Carrera. Had 4 Porsches altogether. One I bought with a bag of nuggets. (true story)

Really upset a Porche driver a few weeks back off at the lights in my FG mk2 XR6 turbo ex HWY patrol........ The look on his frowny face was priceless, he also had his girlfriend in the car..... :D Was no Carrera GT but still the falcon even surprised me.

No it wasn't the xu-1, It was metallic Blue, it was fast little devil and it had all the good gear on it, Couldn't keep engine mounts in it until I modded them.

Yeah, In the LC there were 3 variants of the 186 motor, Being the 186 and the 186s and the much rarer 186x,

RR.

Mine was a bored 186s with a big cam and Solid lifters and Genie Extractors with Triple SU's and a few other bits, But the At the time petrol was still at a reasonable price and I could go from Nambour to Brisbane and back on less than 10 bucks, which means it was doing about 33-36 mpg if I drove it normally but it would do the 1/4m in the mid to low 14's, Stick ya boot in to it and that could drop down to about 14-16mpg but I set it up to go fast but still be drivable,

If you have a low compression 186 or above put a 161 head with bigger valves and do the ports and that will bolt on a good 40 to 50 HP not including the Cam and Carbs and Extractors. Even fitting a standard 161 Head will give it a boost, just get someone to change the Valve seats and Guides so it will handle Unleaded.

Back in the 80's YellaTerra use to mod heads for them and most of their heads were reworked 161 heads. just at different levels of mods. I made my Own.

RR.

My old HD.
HP 179 bored to 192,
Balanced
60/40 cam,
yella terra head stage 2,
Solid lifters,
SSS Headers modified back to behind the passenger seat,
Can AM 2 1/2 inch exhaust,
SET 186 SSS Twin Stromburg duel throat, (Rare as rare even then. )

Man that thing could get.

But open road cruising, 33 to 36 mpg.

Bit of cork clogged the mid oil feed to the Cam at 60mph. :awful:

Talk about detonation. :argh: :argh:
Sold the blown motor for $1500.00
I would hate to say what the Carbies would be worth now. 8.(
