Thanks, I just love the sound of V8's with extractors. Arghh my old Statesman 308 crap motor, sounded great.

Funny you should say that but the 253/308 has one of the best oiling systems ever made in an engine which could handle being put on the Bottle lol :playful: :power:

my old Statesman 308 crap motor, .

I did 650k in a 78 HZ Statesman and cost me an alternator, and lots of petrol.
Great car.
Only lost it cause some #@%* T boned me.

Had a HG 253 Premier with extractors twin pipes and crikey did it go quick. And it never missed a beat either.
Petrol hit 16c a litre I sold it. Hindsight is cruel sometimes but I was only on 35 bucks a week !!.

GT :)

It seemed sluggish compared to the 302 Ford V8.

The 302 winsor was a great little engine and in basic form they only weighed about 463 pounds where the Cleveland weighed about 705 which is why the XW/XY under steered a bit where as the XT XR and early XW were a bit lighter on the front end and being a good 2 or 300Lbs lighter made them a little bit quicker, Loved my XW,

I had a Gold HJ Statesman,

I always wanted a 77/78 351 Fairlane Marquis,

But I always had F 100's and F 350's until about 87 then I got a 56 Chrysler and an 64 Fairlane and a 71 XY and I took the 6cyl out and put in and ZF Fairlane 302 which was 230hp in standard form and then I worked on the motor, In a straight line it too fast, but it was fun. :inlove:

My first car was a hq Monaro coupe brought it when I was a 15 yo apprentice $2800 in mint condition :Y:
Wrapped it around a tree when I was 19 :N: 8.(
Boy I wish I still had it :brokenh:
Biggest regret thou was not buying a genuine xy gtho phase 3 of the plumber when I was an apprentice :N:
Went around to his house with my dad for a look and sure enough it was a ho with all matching Id plates it had been sitting in his garage for years, $9000 he wanted for it and as it had a tiny bit of rust around the factory fitted sunroof and a tear in the front passenger seat we knocked it back! 8.( 8.( 8.(
Again hindsight would have been a great thing :perfect:

I used to like yank V8s, and had quite a few of them. Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Mercury Cougar and Cyclone Comet to mention a few. Then one day I bought a real car; Porsche 911 Carrera. Had 4 Porsches altogether. One I bought with a bag of nuggets. (true story)

Hey reg
Mate I do have a weekness for the Dodge Charger :Y: boy what a great yankie muscle car they are. :perfect:

Licking windows, my 1970 429ci Mercury Cyclone Comet 4 speed manual could really light up the tires, but my 3.2 kitted and tricked up 76 Carrera did 0 to 100 in under 5 seconds, and would hit the rev limiter in 5th @ 265 kph.
Only problem is, a Porsche habit is probably on a par with a cocaine habit financially, and possibly more addictive.

What's a Holden?

something the government should be flogged for loosing ]:D

Yep! The government should hang their heads in shame over that. The writing was on the wall. I have no sympathy for GM Holden.

Buy a bike if you want fast ;)
0 to 100 in under 4, probably top out at about 350 :p and that's off the showroom floor for under 20K :Y:
If that doesn't fill the addiction then just force feed it :power:

Dog Ranger, having had two motorbike shops over the years, I know what you are talking about. Unfortunately saw a few mates buried because of motorbikes, some through their own fault, and some due to cars. I only had a few prangs on bikes and was very lucky, although still get pains from some old injuries. These days I am riding an M109R, and driving a 635csi.
