These are the questions we like Greg. Makes us do much research, therefore we all learn more.

The name wiradjuri is devided into two words as some of you have already guessed. Wiray (no or not) dhuray (having). The language was almost lost. With only a few tribe elders speaking the language a anthropologist traveled the wiradjuri territories (a pretty big bloody area) spoke to the last few speaking members and reclaimed the language. Its is now being taught in some schools by people like my father and cousin who now speak it.

Maybe you can do a new post with lessons?
Old farts can still learn too...

Basically the not having was the same to them as not owning. The wiradjuri didn't take ownership of anything and traded with other tribes. It was their way of calling themselves generous and not selfish. This answer is from what I have been told by language teachers and a reliable source.
But as Duck got the words right strait off the bat I think it's his go.

On a side note to do with native language.
Aboriginals had no word for yesterday or tomorrow.
Unique in any civilization.
Then they are a unique people.

PS. I'll throw one out to sleep on if no one has anything?
