Gday Pauly , no mate, its not happening yet . Thats the work of the good old Ace250.
Didnt realise the time ... Ive been looking, reading confusing myself with researching coils for the sovereign.
Coiltek 15" treasureseeker , Detech SEF DD (butterfly) 10x12" or 12x15" , Detech 13" Ultimate VLF DD
my intention for this sovereign and new better coil would be for the beach (wet and dry)i suppose it would also be suitable for the park .
Are these types of coils same/similar to what you guys use ?

The large Garrett DD coil (same as standard Ace 350 coil), is by far the best garrett coil for the Ace, it should squeeze another couple of inches out over the stock concentric.. I too have pondered getting a larger coil for the Ace, have been looking at a NEL tornado or Detech 10x14 for summer coin shooting at the beach, the NELs in particular are great value for money. :)
Gday GP , would you still rather use your Ace in dry sand ? Why not your new detector? Lighter in weight maybe? Simpler no fuss m/c maybe?

Man, you've got an amazing location to detect at, wish we had some decent areas here loaded with pre-decs, well done. How deep are most of these coming out of the ground at, most of my recent pre-dec finds would have been well out of range of my Ace? :)

During summer, most finds each night have been recent drops (got to be first there), so the Ace is perfect for that role due to it's weight, and fancy bell tones to wake you up from your detecting trance. Don't have to worry about screens or VDI's, just the tones are enough to let you know what coin is under your scoop. The large DD coil was good for covering a bit of ground, with an afternarker coil, even better depth and coverage. ;)

Gday GP, ye im pretty stoked with this spot :D and havent even completed half of it( looking forward very anxiously to the next few weekends )
All have been no deeper than 6" , i have had a couple of good signals deeper but the ground is so bloody hard i cant get to them( not without compromising the integrity of the ground cover, and i dont want to jeopardise my welcome) ive always had it in mind to return in the future possibly with better detector and when ground conditions are more favourable. Im also only running the top 4-5 notches so im only getting the cream ( less holes dug) can always return when ground has recovered( it really is dry and hard)
Im loving this rain .... If we get enough it should soften the ground and it will help the grass green up and recover what i have disturbed.
To be honest though, as much care as i take, the bloody rabbitts are trashing the place  ive even been filling their holes as i go( i try to use rocks so they dont have the nice fresh dirt to dig in that they like)

There have been times when I use a hammer and chisel for the retrieval when the ground is hard and the grass is non-existent.

This morning i went to a local footy field for a bit of a look, spectators can access and gather at 3 main sections around the perimeter , i picked the smallest section on the high side and hunted around the bottom of the slope.
Very trashy , reduced sensitivity but still struggled to cope with the random DING DANG DONGS rattling around in my ears

I actually spent about 45 mins going over an area i had previously done already( didnt realise , couldnt see the plugs previously dug) :D then the rain started again , so i gave up

The rain pretty well stopped today ,so i went straight back down to my spot for a couple of hours. same spot, different section... I covered a fair bit of ground ... And had an unexpected result... I didnt find any pennys , no half pennys and no 3 pences...

Got a soft spot for the Florins, beautiful coins, top spot mate great finds, keep them coming.

Well, like me now Sandta, looking for that elusive crown or two. Well done on the florin, they do have a tendency to ring in nice and clear don't they ?, And isn't it a real buzz when you realise just what it is that you clawed out of Mother Earths clutches. And on that note, I can just imagine all those crowns ringing in loud and clear as a bell(like a coke can) and being overlooked because they sound too strong, Mmmmm,.... I wonder if they would overload out or not, might just mean the difference of digging out the signal or not when it comes to finding that crown. What do ya recon,...the race is on now(whole of PA included),who finds the next Australian Silver Crown from now on,....25-08-2014. Who will it be and where will it happen.

i have yet to see anyone pull a crown from the ground. as they were only made for 2 years i dont like the chances, but would like to find one myself.

one thing i also havent found is a round 66 50c coin and there are tones of them out there

Yeah and they only made the 66 round 50c for one year, so our chances must be good for a crown. They made them for 2 years.

Odds are 36/1 in favour of finding a round 50c piece instead of a crown. I only have to find 35 round 50c pieces before the odds are in my favour for finding a crown.
