Slothchild said:My first piece of gold after six months of looking. Found today somewhere "near" Dunolly. Was about three inches down, found with Whites TDI pro and stock coil. Have to buy some scales now I guess ? https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/img/member-images/5479/1447488515_dsc_0006_3.jpg

A very slow start to the solo 4 day trip with no action until day 3... The mind games had started, bit of doubt in the back of your mind and each new spot looking average - then the luck changed.
Pinged a 0.6g piece that I was almost sure was junk - the pointy ends of it giving it that annoying sound we are all so familiar with.
I was stoked with the piece as it's quite a good looking bit, but I was more excited about finding a new area to work for the following day and a half.
Well the day just kept getting better with more popping out every half hour or so, the 'old girl' 2200 purring along like I haven't heard for a while, giving me more reason to hold off from 'upgrading' to a later model for now.
Ended the day with 7 for 7.00g, biggest 3.05g smallest 0.44g
The feeling when you see that bright yellow in your palm is so bloody good.
If your still new to detecting and haven't had any success, my advice is to stick with it - put in the hours and go hard, you will dig a bunch of junk, but sooner or later you will have that moment where it all falls into place.
Hope you all enjoy the pics

looking piece Slothchild, good to see a "Whites" find, & well done for your first nugget.
Can I ask how deep it was detected & was it found it ground with high mineralization, just interested as I use a Whites SPP.
Did you end up getting it weighed.
