Good stuff mate. It all adds up. Did better than me this time round. I went out to a new area with a bloke i hadn't met before. Both had an awesome day in a new area but only got one small bit each for our troubles.
There's areas I can go to and confidently get small stuff as you have seen from the pics. I've decided I'm gonna head out to a few new areas/fields in hunt of some bigger bits/patches.

Coronation medallion/medalet george v and queen mary 1911 shire of ararat president s.calvert secretary robert speed 15ct 6.43grams just wondering if anyone knows anything about it and what it could be worth??? Tried to upload a pic but using mobile apparentaly file is too big

Many of us thinking the same Walshie and dam it. A few of us tried new spots (away from our comfort zones) in search of larger bits, but came up with very little. Was good hunting company though.

Based on smelted gold value = ~$160.00 max. however, a collector familiar with the item may pay more if definition is still very good and pay above this value if they need it in their collection...

Its in mint condition cant find much info on the net about it. It has s.s on the bust of george which means stokes and sons but there website has no information about it. The meuseum of victoria also has no information on it but has a similar medal with only marys head on it in bronze gilded and another silver gilded Meuseum of ararat also has no info on it. What i did find out tho is ararat railway station was named after samuel calvert and that he was also a justice of the peace

A medal was issued in commemoration of the victorian juvenile industrial exhibition in 1888 naming s.calvert as shire president of ararat (nu.34528) a medal also naming calvert was issued in 1887 for queen victorias jubilee (car.1887/74) and 1897 for queen victorias diamond jubilee (car.1897/15 and 1897/47) in 1911 he was again named shire president on a medal issued for the coronation of george v and mary (car.1911/6) but still no mention of anything in 15ct and cant find a photo anywhere
