I've tried dishwashing detergent in my Aldi ultrasonic cleaner to try a clean a brass medallion, but nothings happened. Is there any stronger stuff I can put in it to remove the clay, etc. off it?

Hang on to ya pants people..... I hit the not so mother load. Still it was a good day in the sun
I like the look of those heaps - gently sloping ground, shallow diggings, no evidence of recent raking/scraping/excavating. I'm surprised there wasn't more there for you.

True Grubby, but those bloody old timers didn't leave much at all. The shot ratio was horrendous, but you have to dig it. It amazes me how little they left

Up at Wedderburn for the first time since before COVID.
Decided to give Queens gully a go and alas it looks like a moonscape with holes and scrapes everywhere.
Perservered with the 6 and ended the day with 7 bits for a total of 0.4gr.
Running in auto1, small signals just don’t sound like signals anymore. With the silent background they sound like random chirps like others from emi, ground, knocks or other random chirps. The only way to tell if it is a true signal chirp is to repeat swing and hope the chirp repeats at the same spot each swing.
The smallest bit in the photo would have to be the smallest bit I think I have ever positively detected. Really pushing the 6000 and goldhawk to the limits. Not much shot found, think that most of that had already been removed by other detectorists.IMG_20241004_194317050_HDR~2.jpg

In the early '80's there was an elderly bloke and his missus living in a caravan in the Wedderburn Caravan Park and every fine day, he'd go out prospecting with his Garrett Deepseeker. I believe he always searched in Queens Gully and only found two pieces in the several years he was there, but since both were around 10-12 ounces, he was happy in his work. The nuggets were solid lumps about the size of a billiard ball and he never even washed them properly, so there was dry clay still attached long after they were found!

Hi Hawkear,

Sorry if I am "telling grandma how to suck eggs" but it sounds like you would prefer to have the Threshold on whilst you have the 6000 in Auto or Auto+ ? You can do that by long pressing the Normal/Difficult button for 2.5 seconds.

I really disliked the Threshold off when I had the 6000 as I am sure it misses targets, but my mother only ever uses hers with Threshold off as she hates the noise.

Again, sorry if I'm telling you something you already know 👍
