Hated parting with the 3500 but one machine had to go, still have 5 detectors too fall back on. :(

I hear they are a great all-round machine but for that kind of money I thought one would be better off buying a gpx5000 or a Garrett atx and save the rest for travel?
Is there anything more to gain with a z?

I would not bother with a Garret ATX.

A GPX 5000 will find gold in the right ground with a competent operator.
Mixed reports on GPZ, i have one and think it OUTPERFORMS a GPX by miles!

An SDC 2300 is a top performing detector and will find MORE small gold quicker than a GPZ for far much less outlay! :D
