I hate to say it but by the time you cover the costs of any machinery you buy and the mercury or chemicals you use, from what I can see in the pan after 3 pans full you say. I think you will be overcapitalized for a small return.
Best bet might be to send a bit of random ore from the bin away for assay to see if the returns are worth the outlay.

Sorry I somehow missed the second and third pages. Only saw the flour gold before I posted. After a second look I would say break it all down to golfball size & light a good hot fire under it and roast it for a day or so. then try dollying it again so that it passes through a flour seive. Then try panning off to the darker sands and put them aside in a container for later amalgamation with mercury. Dont throw out the spoils that went over the edge of the pan as you will find that there will be a lot of micro gold in the spoils. Pan the lot off 2 or 3 times to concentrate it down. Then find someone who has the right gear to work with Mercury and buy him a beer or 2.

Something to do.........? I'm supposed to be retired and I can't find two minutes to scratch myself. I have two foolscap pages for To-Do's managed by Mrs M and I only have until April to knock it off :|

If only I had some rock to crush :p

You back at home Phil?

Something to besides work, detecting and cutting down a huge bouganvillia with thorns from 1" to tiny ones, worst thing is, I must have done something bad to bouganvillas at sometime, because they hold a grudge against me, they are out to get me....grow so fast, then they ambush me....like being chucked in a box with a dozen feral cats.

Hey dave,

You didn't do a stint in Bougainville PNG by any chance, it might just be payback time. :) :) :)

Cheers

Liquid mower mate......Roundup

Hey Dave I also have one of those buggars. Whenever I am mowing the bloody thing jumps out at me and rips my arms to pieces. With blood thinners I look like I have been in a war zone and lost, misses always freaks out a the blood loss hehehehe but it is very pretty and that's why I keep it.
Cheers

Yes Dave we're back home preparing to go away in April. We have a friend here from Bendigo. We took him detecting in Moliagul, Victoria last year and he was bored to death so we're spending a bit of time on Geocaching while he's here. It's breaking into my work plans a bit but we most likely need to hone our social skills a bit :|

Social skills? You mean sitting around a fire with a camp oven on, drinking beer and telling stories?

Yeah we tend to go it alone most of the time. We don't go to caravan parks and only meet up with others on the odd occasion. Perhaps we're a bit selfish and fitting in with others is a bit inconvenient sometimes. I find most people unreliable. You make plans and they either run hours late without letting you know or they cancel at the last minute. We're awful spontaneous most of the time but if we make plans with others we do our best to keep to them.

Same, I can't plan ahead. This year is an exception, I had to give 6 months notice of when I wanted to take long service leave, so chose August Sept, thinking it shouldn't be too cold for a WA trip then.....although it might be!

You don't have much choice here. The seasons are all mixed up now but the transition from winter to summer is hard to pick and there's not much in between. You can be out there one week complaining of the cold wind and freezing mornings and then we're grumbling about the heat and the flies a week or so later.

Or is it that I'm just getting too old....?
