whats the host rock ?

granite ?

will it soften up by lighting a good fire underneath it ?

100 kg is not that much really , maybe just keep it simple and reprocess anything back through the dolly that isnt fine powder

Dave, my friends found a quartz rock that gave them a signal on the 7000. They chipped/dug 26 kg of rock. He showed me a bit and I couldn't even see the gold but he put it through an impact crusher and turned it into dust. When he got to Perth he took it into the Perth Mint. They didn't like dealing with fine powder but said they'd take a look at it. After a couple of weeks they sent him and invoice for $750, itemising the gold and silver content, for processing and a cheque for $31,000.

They told him to now go back and dig the rest......

That's around 560 grams of gold in 26 kg rock

Pretty sexy :p :p

Pretty sure I don't have $10K,s worth of gold in this rock, but I reckon there is a fair bit.

Gave the pot a whirl for about 1/2 an hour.
Looks like the big pot is good, but I need a smaller pot as well to get it really fine, need that extra control.

Ye a man after my own dreams .. did spend some time there many years ago .. wouldnt mind going back. Good luck to him.
Might have to go look for his reef. 8) ;)

Dave I know nothing about extracting the gold from the rock but from what my friends were told by the Perth Mint, they didn't want it pulverised to a powder. They still processed it but somehow crushing it to powder made their job more difficult. We met a guy in Yalgoo who crushes his shale like that in a ball mill and then extracts the gold using mercury. When he boils the mercury off he collects near 100% in his still for next time.

I have no option really Phil. All that's left is fine gold, and its hard work. Not enough to do the mercury thing.

Maybe save your buckets of residue when your finished, just in case you meet up with "Mercury Man" one day in the future and he's all like, "Oh No man, ya didn't throw it out, DID YA".

Rather the nuggies IMHO .. leave the fine **** for retirement days .. plenty country out there with bigger slugs just awaiting for me
