Morning all.

Walking through Woodlands Historic Park in Greenvale yesterday in the distance I saw three people using a metal detector in an area where there’s mainly just kangaroos walking around.

I felt it a bit rude to walk over and interrupt them to ask but I admit I’m still curious what they could have been looking for in an area which doesn’t see much human foot traffic.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance 😇

Likely looking for coins &/or relics.
Without looking into it I'd assume it would be illegal though, being a Historic Park & also an Aboriginal Cultural Area.
If thinking of metal detecting there I'd be checking with Parks Victoria first.

Thanks for that, yes I agree they probably should have checked first in such a place. The kangaroos were definitely keeping their distance and casting a wary eye.
Maybe somebody had some engagement or wedding photos taken there and dropped the ring?

Very unlikely. The area they were in can only be accessed by walking along some rough paths not to mention a lot of roo poo and even some dead roo carcases.
