Hi all,
I'm new to this and thought I'd give it a go. We live in Sydney (Dural area) and though I'd give it a go. Not sure where to start - quipemnt wise or locations to try out, I have a 3-D printer which I'm pretty good with designing and creating things like a gold panning dish etc. Any advice would be appreciated. I was on another site and only got abuse and stupid comments... I'm hoping this one will be much better... Thanks.

Welcome to PA, Goff. Hopefully you'll find us more welcoming and friendly than your prior negative experience.

In Sydney, you're about 2-3 hours drive from accessible prospecting areas and the applicable NSW rules and regs can be confusing at first. Have a look here for starters:

Basic alluvial prospecting gear is widely available and pretty cheap - I doubt that your 3D printing skills will save you much for a gold pan and seive, buckets, etc. Most 3D printer projects I've seen on here are about printing minor bits and pieces to enhance metal detectors or replace their original parts.

Here's an interesting approach to a gold recovery method that could give you a painless, low cost and interesting direction to start your goldfields explorations:

All the best out in the bush when you eventually get there! đź‘Ť
