Lets call it " the land of a thousand mullock heaps " until someone identifies it ( should take all of 5 minutes )

just a couple of snaps for anyone who didnt see an old mining area from the goldrush days

i saw at least a dozen shafts and drives into the hills here , some uncovered shafts dropped down at least 20 metres :/

It's just before the Turon crossing on the bridal track below hill end NSW ,pretty much opposite the covered picnic table & toilet block.
A beautiful spot!!

Golden Gully,

yes sir

golden gully , Hill End

sit quietly there and you can almost feel the cheerful chatter of gleeful miners , the clatter of picks and tin pans , intermingled with the odd scream from cave ins and crushed bodies

amazing history in that place

I haven't been here as yet. It's a photo I got from a mate who took the pics.
There's a 12 head Battery near by as well.
Haven't found info on how rich it was but bu looking at the risky place it is, the amount of tunnels (3/4 of the way up the wall)& shafts, I recon they must have got a significant amount...

on a side note - that's a smack to the head. I saw one of these when I was growing up in central QLD on a property. No one gave a toss but damned - now I have to track down the old man and ask him where we were as I know its not far from here (maybe 30mins west) and its in a remote property / creekbed area. How the memory jolts to life when you see a pic. amazing.

Oh and to guess the others NFI sorry. Some where south of Queensland I assume :p

This pic is definitely on the Turon,NSW .I along with hundreds of others have had a swing here, especially along the creek which is on the left & just level with the top of the stamper.

Where is this and what is it? Hint: Close to Chewton. Now and as was. Has a funny name if you have a small filthy mind like mine.
