Sounds like you need a bird net over it Dave, or even a very light shade cloth net. :Y:
The wild animals never play our game, good at their own though..... they probably realised you don't take the damaged ones, so are allout to damage as many as possibleas quick as they canjust so you leave their apricots alone(bugga's)
Unfortunately I let my Apricot and Peach trees get too big over the last couple of years, I'm gunna give em a good old Short Back And Sides this year so I'll be able to get a net over em next year Silver, that'll piss those pesky Wattle Birds off

These are my Peach and Apricot trees, you can see how big I've let em get, I'm picking plenty of Apricots but I'm taking them off earlier than I'd like because of the pesky Wattle Birds, but they ripen up after 4 or 5 days, I've started stewing them, I'll put some photos on the cooking thread.

Also potted on 5 maringa trees, deep pots too for the same reason.

There was also a passionfruit that i potted on as well, into a purple pot, and two slim tropical plum cuttings I put in for a chance.

They look healthy mate.
I got my 7 beds lined up and will join them together soon. Backs too sore. There are 4 across the back and 3 coming forward in an "E" formation.
The Pathy's running a bit rough on LPG. I think a crook batch of gas from the Stones Cnr. BP. Will have to run it out till empty again. Ok on Petrol.

You'll have to post a photo once they're all in position. Don't over do your back on account of that though. :Y:

I had a manzano chilli tree that lasted 8 years and I used to get 5kg's of a single harvest, that made for a good ferment and the chilli vodka and brandy was a winner.

Got a new chilli tree and with it's first harvest I will have enough for a 5 litre ferment and more chilli vodka is on the way

I'm trying to keep the Wattle Birds out of my apricot tree at the moment, the tree is loaded and I don't mind any of the birds having a feed, but they jump from one piece of fruit to the other chewing big holes in em, little buggers have got to learn how to play the game.

bloody wattle birds, they are sh*ts of things. They give other birds so much grief too

great stuff, need more people to plant pollen attractants, helps to keep bees busy with breading too. We're lucky, we've a hive in a wattle 30m out the back door, been there now since mid Nov. They've done a ripper job for us this year, everything has fruited very nicely

:8 there frigging BIG

You can see them growing them on YouTube, nothing else allowed to grow in the patch, has tarp fence around it to stop the wind damage to leaves , or seeds blowing in, or low insects too I'd suppose, once the pumpkin vine spreads I think they only have one pumpkin per arm(probly till they decide which pumpkin will be the big one maybe). Can't wait to see how it goes. I have a farmer friend wanting to grow one too.

After the dry dead wood goes in I a putting a layer of sugar cane mulch then Cow manure and an organic fertilizer like Dynamic lifter Soil improver and a layer of good garden soil mixed with Vermiculite to hold moisture and on that another layer of sugar cane mulch.
Happy Gardening.
Jaros. :)
