Is a rabbit trap mechanical or not. Manual effort is required to set the the trap in to trigger position, but after that, its all mechanically triggered to close.
Too much loose wording has been allowed to be made it into an unlawful act.
So much so that a yabby pump is still in the grey area untill the gov says "yabby pump"
Utter crap that they have been allowed to dictate so loosely and ignorantly

Mate, what area you go to, talk to the people that police it, and ask their opinion on what is and isn't ok, if your local parks guys said a yabby pump is fine then just run with it in that area.mudgee hunter said:

I think its all gotten out of hand since the dredging became illegal some 40 years ago and the word "green" was suddenly accepted as the bottom line of a law to the themselves unless a dollar was to be made for the gov above. So much so that the "greenies" are now considered extremists up there with there anachronistic ways, next to isis. A law to themselves, that make there own rules without any true idea. We are defending the tail end of a ridiculous self regulatory government body.
This vac topic has emerged in thought of newbies that cant see any harm with common sense of using such. Not untill they are informed it's an unlawfull act! Legislated without any proof of damage done so within limitations.
Any such laws written with so much controversial debate and grey areas, yet a blanketed overall ruling, must have been written haphazardly without thought or knowledgeable expertise.

Unsure why so many members are worried about trolls on this site. I'd rather an educated troll, reading, understanding and learning than the ignorant ones.

There is a spot I remember where the local parks fellow didn't mind people panning in the river which was on the no go list.
Soon enough people started sluicing, then you guessed it the bloody dredgers came in.
So it all got shut down.
Because you give an inch, people push the boundaries and take a mile.
That's why ALL mechanical devices are banned, if it was based on power or capacity etc the boundaries would get pushed and soon enough people would come in with trailer mounted devices and there would be a mess.
The law is set that way as it's simple to understand and police.
And really you are not going to get stuff all from a cordless vac.

Sadly there was destruction of some picturesque parts of Australia.
How about Parramatta river? The Hawksburry river, Berowra waters, cowan creek, Neapean, so many awsum rivers that must of been pure magic 200 years ago. LAND SALE! One day of development destruction in these areas would equate to less than the last 20 years of high banking. Its a mere blame game of the small guy, ignoring the big guys with there corruption of kick backs. Everyday I see mountains getting leveled for coal mining. They have bought out so many properties in the name of silencing.
