An old bell found next to a small log top sticking out of the ground. Almost left where it was placed however long ago. Still works. Its in electrolysis state at the moment to remove rust. Interested to see what happens as ive had no luck qith electrolysis yet. Bit disapointed. Though the rust isnt bad on this. It was near the ocean just in the trees in the bush in a little clearing. A warning bell perhaps?

yep a cow or a goat bell , and judging by the size of it in your hand id say a goat bell .

The farmer took his goats to the sea side for a holiday ? holy errrr goat. :D

Big enough to make me run opposite direction. Now 5 hours later after electrolysis with a 12v car charger. Should i spray it with anything to prevent more rust?

Looks like your bell is has had the handle bronze welded in more recent times?
Old rusty items can also be restored by soaking them in molasses for a number of weeks, the item retains it natural look and doesn't require painting.

The markings on spoon probably denote - Electro Plated Silver Nickel Alloy.

Did you get a new detector slipped disk? Looks kickass your display pic.
I did notice the welding or solder joinery on the bell night jar.but how recent are you talking i mean. Recent as in 80-100 years ago? I thought about molasses. But heard it can be harsh? Ive got abucket of molasses mix now with a few rusted items in it. Im going out again this morning. How old does this bell look? Im hoping to find more treasurable items :p than a goats bell haha

It is very important to wash any items you put into the molasses mixture (50/50 with water) because if you don't the process will continue & eat the object away.
People who restore old cars use the molasses system too, it is very effective.

HI TM. yeh, new old one. well priced, top nick, so done the deal. need some practice to get the most from it.
Compadre good, but sov. better for wet sand , descrim. and multi frequencies etc. the bell came up aright. rust convertor is still good for non valuable items. you just spray them black, silver, gold or copper color etc. might try the molasses trick on a rusty dirt bike muffler. I hope you find more treasure, two goat bells. :D

Wow that looks like a kickass machine. How deep can it go? Yesterdays finds. What looks like a very early multi tool pocket knife. And a candle snuffer.
