What is it made of, silver? Great find by the way. :)
Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure what it's made of, it feels fairly light. It is also showing some pitting.

Just dug another five old coins at site #3, some kind of printing press?, pieces of a broken toy pistol, a couple more buckles, the back from a pocket watch (gilded ?)
An axe head, and two really cool bottles that I forgot to bring home.

The coins a nearly toast.
One is clearly a 1953 one Penny,
One 1877 Penny
One 1894? Penny (can barely make out date)
One 1878 half Penny
And one 186? Half Penny, looks like 1866, I can clearly read 186, the last number could be 6 or 8.
My oldest coin :)

Cheers

I managed to read the printing plate by looking in a mirror.
It reads "new! Naoisco appeteasers"
I can also read "mini rolls" and "onion rings"

So it must be a printing plate for a snack company.

Some great coins there Stoney, awsome to find such old coins still in the ground. the press plate is also a great find.

Cheers, Tone

You have certainly got some great territory to hunt in, such a wide variety of finds, and some pretty old coins to top it off. Agreed that it is Nabisco, a lot of the old newspaper clippings misinterpret it as Naobisco, plus Nabisco has been around since the 1898. Can we all come to detect at your place! ;)

Nabisco, that makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

Haha, sure Goldpick, I would be only to happy to share my locations, it gets lonely detecting alone :)

I found this huge bullet today. Can anyone tell me what it is?

I also found a 1948 half Penny, a fifty rears commonwealth of Australia medallion. And a one and two cent coin.

A knife handle, a tiny buckle with "Paris" inscribed on it, a Flying Bomb AA battery, a 1949 Penny, and a .303 casing made at Hendon small arms factory 2 in 1944,

And another bottle.

Oppps...I must admit I was careless and non-law abiding in my early teens, I may have been responsible for a few goons lying around the countryside, needless to say, there will be some well fertilised soil nearby. Ugly stuff that brown musket :8

I have found so many caps from those things at this place. Who ever is responsible for them, must have had at least one bottle each day.

You sure you didn't live there?

Ooo, I found one of those bullets here in Canberra Stoney, I never found out what it was.

Good finds!

Hi Silver,
Yeah It's a McWilliams wine bottle, 1960's sounds about right.

I'm getting organised to head back out to the site now. Hopefully I'll have something to report about this evening.
