It looks like something you would take down to the drag strip...pimp my barrow.

Underground wheel barrow for cornish miners! ;)

I actually have a Cornish Mine Captain in the family tree...maybe there is such thing as genetic memory? :)

I have a rat living under my house so I build a little trap. Bit of peanut butter on a beer can should do the trick. :)

Peanut butter and a beer you say? Dont be surprised when you check on it you find that I have my head stuck in the bucket instead  ;)

I have already taken care of the content of the can. LOL. Make sure you don't drown in the bucket with the rat.

rats are great swimmers but if he cant spring off the bottom of the bucket and cant climb the sides it might work for you

what about setting up a motion camera there ? . might give you some revenue from youtube videos

...A wheelbarrow/cart that is about 14" tall at it's highest:

Replacing timber stumps and sole-plates with concrete version means a lot of dirt that needs to be removed from under an already low house; hopefully this speeds up the process. May need to add a drop-side yet, but hoping the thickness of bearers +beams= enough to throw dirt into it if positioned properly.

The "barrow" bit is detachable so I can load buckets of wet concrete on...didn't have much fun mixing the rapid set in the hole last time.
It will make a awesome billy cart after you've finished!

made an aftermarket battery / booster / speaker / headphone combo for the GPX

battery from a sony camcorder

rooster booster incorporated with a switch in the headphone jack so if i unplug the headphones the speaker is operational ( speaker clips on to the bracket in front of the battery )

and the rooster booster amplifier takes the place of the amplifier in the minelab battery

2 batteries and charger cost me about $ 60

no more cord dangling behind you catching on branches , no harness required , no more inconvenience with stretching the cord to put your detector down while you dig a target

Are you sure you're not going to get interference by using non shielded cable?

dunno yet i only switched it on inside my factory which has steel everywhere and wireless internet and 415 volt power cables so it is noisy every time i move it , but it did that with the old battery too

i tried getting 3 core shielded cable from jaycar when i made it but they had none

i shall try it up the road somewhere later tonight when nobody can see me and see how it goes ;)

if need be i could always use shielded cable for the audio line and twin core for the battery but its only 8 volts ?

will let you know :)

Been busy making good stuff.
8vdc shouldn't produce RF.

i did wonder if the coil magnetic field might interfere with the audio cable but i used what cable i had and if i have to change to shielded then its only 15 minutes more work

its a big improvement over the harness / battery / cable package and i think the battery will last around 4 - 5 hours at a guestimication

Today I attempted to cut out the bread crate for my new river sluice. I'm trying out something different, so this is the first part of it. Backed rubber moss as per Wal's method under it all of course.
Can anyone please tell me where on earth do I find the expanded catwalk material. As this is a larger river sluice, approx 1.2m x 400 x 250, I only require a small size yet no one wants to sell offcuts :( Not quite sure if I cut out the squares correctly as this is my first attempt.

Gav, go and see RIS at Wetherill Park, they do roof walkways and stuff, ask if you can buy some offcuts from their scrap bin.

Try a local scrap metal merchant, they can rude arrogant even at times but boy do they get volumes of the good stuff. For them half of retail price will be a bonanza, I got my stainless at a fraction of the cost of new (like 15% of total new price). The big yards are a waste of time, try the little guys, at least, and if they don't have it give them your number in case they come across it. With materials so expensive new its worth a shot. But first I'd enquire about retail, the local aluminium guys were very reasonable when I went in to get checkerplate to build my trade toolboxes they even folded it saving the $70 an hour fee the local engineers would have charged, I didn't mind a few scratches and got it slightly below cost. I think with everything if your clear about what you want but remain flexible most business will help out where they can. And realistically the amount of material required may not be as pricey as you first think. Good luck.
