I made a wooden handle for my GPX 5000, hopefully it is unbreakable.

I also made a removable base for the arm grip on my 2300. It is infuriating when the sides fold in and the straps flatten constantly.
I glued an extra layer of webbing on the strap and I hold the PVC base down with Velcro. I didn't want to modify the machine in any way
so it is removable and it can be stored in the bag , and the machine can be folded as usual. Seems to work good .

Just out of the workshop for my other hobby.
16 inch mirror and motor driven to track deep space objects.

Mate that's on my dream list when I retire and move out bush.

Can you hook yours up to a high definition camera CCD and display it on a big screen UHD TV so you can sit in the lounge , turn the lights off , control the telescope by remote control and navigate to your hearts content or is it optical viewfinder only ?

I spent some time in the cramped neck - night dew on the head club when I was younger but the magnification was shed-house back then .

Beautiful !

Good work, that is a big beast.
Looks like a form of Dobsonian mount. What tracking mechanism are you using and is the dobsonian smooth enough for some good photography? Where did you source the mirror, or did you do all that grinding by yourself?

Thanks. It is a dob using steppermotors to drive and rack from a deep space driver. It's for visual observation, most photography is taken from an equitorial mount. the donor scope was a gso 16.

Thanks Barry, a 16" in a real beast. I have 2 scopes that are half the diameter of yours, one an 8" Newtonian equatorial head, that I built myself, made it all except for the eyepieces, and a Schmidt Cassegrain 200mm, which I purchased of course. The newtonian is manual tracking, but the SC20 equatorial head has a simple powered drive.

Both are just sitting in the shed under cover gathering dust, as I always seem to not have enough time for half the things that I get into.

Have fun with it.

Had a go at making a sniping snuffer bottle using WalnLiz's tips.

My family are on point, they got me the turkey baster for Christmas!

Let's see how it goes after my mods.

Any tips are welcome for either the bottle or for sniping. I'm planning on going to oallen.
