Maybe not prospecting related, but this long wet winter has relegated me to the shed. Have been dabbling with some electronic kits and here is one just completed AND it works. $9.80 from eBay.
You need a magnified light to see the components this day and age. Made up a spring loaded device (kebab stick) to hold resistors/capacitors in place while soldering after two bits flew away into space and not found when using tweezers.

Thanks Guys. Its just on 5ft of solid 1 1/2" solid stainless! The plan is to lift it and just let gravity do the rest as some of you have mentioned.

Jaros, No ticking sound but alarm can be set, chimes on the hour and displays temperature. The led's flash around circumference in different series. Will see if I can put a video together.
