Though my vehicle is only 1.5 Ton I decided to buy a ratchet assembly for it just in case I get bogged. Its a biggy and its

capacity is 5 Ton :)

Just hope I never have to use it and if I do there is a tree within 8 metres.

those load binders are usually just for tying loads on the tray but i have used one for a tow rope before

Exactly I can use it as tow rope if needed or wrap one end around a tree and the other to my car and ratchet it out of position if I get bogged.

yeah but . no . you only get 6 inches of stroke before you have to release it and shorten the strap so you car rolls back 6 inches again ~

there are boat style hand winches except geared down heaps that would work , give you about 800 - 1000 kg pull which is sometimes enough

assuming youre not axle deep in slodgy pluggy muddddd :/

Thanks for that. The strap is really heavy duty and can be used as a tow row on worse case basis.

I found a 4 ton hand winch. I'll buy that as well.

Don't forget you can always use your high lift jack to get you out of most spots, a bit slow but fantastic, you can use that as a winch as well :D
