I bought an ARB E-Z Tyre deflator from a local pawn broker, thought $35 was pretty good seeing I saw them at ARB for around $79 so happy with that. Into the compressor bag it goes.

See ebay has some similar ones, but still not as cheap.

http://www.arb.com.au/products/general-accessories/tyre-accessories/

dont the pawnbrokers take your address and details in case the item gets claimed as stolen ?

cops can come and take it back off you and you lose your $$

i dont buy from pawnbrokers . i figure anything in there is stolen so why take on somebody elses bad luck ?

No details left. They have to hold an item for 3 months I think it is, after that it is considered theirs.

I finally got delivery of 100 pipets for fine gold snuffing so dont be surprised if I stick one in your pocket next time I see one of you.

I have just picked up a bulk pack of portable showers. All you need is a bucket of clean water and a 12v supply and you can shower or wash the dog or wash your feet after going to the beach. Anyway I've got some if anyone is interested. BCF sell them for around $38.
I am offering them up for $15 a piece plus delivery.

I've had a couple of these, Primus was one and I had a no name, the switch on both packed it in a very short space of time.
Hope you have better luck with yours, I'm looking at buying either the cube or the coleman but the jury is still out on this as it's only me and at the moment I'm using to good old faithful 5 gal shower which is as old as me (just about).
:) Mick

kleinman98 use 150 mm pipe for bucket glue cap on bottom pumps more of your hot water than a bucket and you can stick all your gear in the pipe when done and place cap on top :)

I attented a clearing sale this morning to look at an alloy semi trailer for a friend to purchase, and walked away with this for a $100 couldnt let this type of history go to waste for scrap, the owner told me it was from the early 1900's but had no idea of the actual date of manufacture...............iam more worried about what the mrs is going to say when she gets home from overseas work trip in acouple of weeks, im really worried actually its 8mt long 1.2mt in diameter and estimated weight of 3.5 tonnes  ......not sure how to get it home yet dont think Vic roads would be to happy if i tried to skull drag it....... 8)

dwt - I love these old machines as well. the old fellas technical engineering was first rate. I have checked over some of these types of machines - the accuracy of the fittings, drilled holes, riveting etc etc truly amazes me.

i hear you there Loamer, thats why i couldnt stand by and watch it get hacked up for scrap, now all i need to do is find an old 5-10 head stamper, couple of pipe joins, quite a few buckets of water and i will be clacking the neighbours ears off just like the old days.............OH YEAH....... 8)

actually mate if thats 16 mm plate it will weigh at least 6.7 tonnes

can you confirm the thickness of the plate its made from and i will give you its weight ?

that would have to date from around 1910 - 1930 as it predates welded boiler construction

even on scrap value it would pay for a semi trailer . is there a crane on site ? :/

good onya for saving it

when you get it home start talking to a few vintage steam and historical societies , you never know what connections you might make and hopefully you will find someone who wants it for a museum piece.

if its 7.6 metres then that brings the weight down but i just added a little for the rivets and doubler plates on the joints plus end caps

i dont have room for it unless i stood it upright , but hey if worst comes to worst you could always sell it to some height challenged leprachauns for a nuclear fallout shelter

How did the guy on the inside holding the bucking bar survive a build like that. Confined space had not been invented & cotton wool in your ears will have the bells ringing for ages.
The skill level & achievements in such poor conditions are to be admired.
Geez HeadsUp you have that steel stuff worked out.
