Paul you still won't find a 1937 half penny, no matter how hard you look.

Not much of a challenge then - let me get out my complete half penny collection... ?

Understand but I didn't think folks were displaying coins they didn't find detecting otherwise it defeats the purpose ... Surely someone has found a 1937 foreign coin or a crown ... Some of the copper looks awful nice for park finds!

I don't go looking for coins, it's just a by-product of detecting for gold. But saying that, I do keep all the interesting coins that I find and have quite a few that have been found around various prospecting sites over the years.

Have been detecting since 1977, and have quite a few to choose from, from over those years. Just not a crown, it is on my wish list, but I will probably get one as a present ( Mrs Silver reckons I must be dreaming), before I dig one out of the ground.

I concur with you wholeheartedly Paul

Even prospecting is valid - but not from bought or inherited collections was what I was referring to

Not an actual coin date post, just a photo to show that when you hunt for coins with a detector there are times when some of them pop out of the ground and look ok with just a cursory clean up.

It doesn't happen like that all the time, but on occasion it does,...just lets me know that some of you hunt places like I hunt(you know who you are). Eventually one like that turns up and it certainly is a wow moment to remember.

TRUE Silver they are ugly, and i don't bother cleaning them anymore as I used to. Here is one Ive posted earlier they can be cleaned and preserved if you're into coins Im not unless they have some sort of value. | The rule didn't specify the coins have to be dirty :)
