This is where I learnt that the Chinese goldminers were well-organized contractors and saw one of the pre-printed English-Chinese phrase books that they brought with them (especially printed for the purpose e.g. "which way to Bendigo"? It is rather hidden away in a lane in Melbourne's Chinatown but worth a visit - followed by a Chinese meal that can be far more varied than normal "Chinese" fare if you pick the right restaurant in Little Bourke St.
