Haven't come up with anything like it yet, looks like the heads side was struck with an early 1800s coin die but the obverse is completely different to any colonial coin I can find. Maybe a clever forger made a few buttons on the side....Who knows.
Found what's left of a set of rosary beads. 8" down in a mullock heap of all places. Guess the mining wasn't going so well and he was hoping for some divine help ickshovel: ower:
Good to see some people getting out and about again. Nice pair of older silvers and coppers - and that freaky clown , wonder what it may have been attached to?? :Y:
Got a small gold 'record' with the equinox and 6" coil this weekend. That's a 1c coin and there can't be more than 0.05g in it. Gold mode 2 with recovery speed at 6 and sens of 23. TID 1 but a clear signal. Found setting manual ground balance and just detecting a square meter seems best for reducing false signals and bump sensitivity.
This was a bonus from an old house site. George 111 1806 large half penny. Must have been quite old when it was lost as the area was only settled in the 1870s and 1874 was the oldest coin I have found there previously.
Nice Dave.... youve just helped me ID this brass plate I turned up recently.
Obviously the back plate of a padlock.... Ill have to go back and look for the rest now,
Cheers.
Tried out 4kHz mode from the latest equinox update in a local park that has been done to death by many including myself and managed to pick up this wives and mothers brooch along with a half penny, 2c and a dollar coin. 4k is interesting to use and certainly seems to quieten down the chatter from can slaw which this spot is full of.
Had a great weekend at the recent PMAT meeting on Ron Gregories mining lease at Back Creek. There's certainly a new gold rush going on with over 60 people there and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear getting a workout!
