Sniping - tools or techniques to expose bedrock

Hi,

Here's a question regarding sniping. Do you have any tips on **tools or techniques** (dredge excluded) to help exposing bedrock when it is covered with a layer of rocks and gravel? I find it tedious to expose it when the material keeps falling back into the pit when removing it by hand.

I made up a special rake . About 200 m.m . wide . Still got it , could take a photo next time I can get to it .

I just load the unwanted stuff in a Bucket and dispose elsewhere in the creek... Eventually i get down to bedrock... Beware of False bottoms too... Tricky things...
Apart from a dredge, not really any other method is as good as... But like all good things, they are Illegal now for us Hobby Prospectors...

But i do like the rake idea, but that wouldn't work where i go...
