Considering how worn that coin is,I suspect it was in circulation for a long time and lost in the early 20th century.

If you ever find buttons stamped with the name "Taylor", they would likely be from a Tailor in Adelaide - 1850's

He had then stamped out in England and shipped to Adelaide where his business was in King William St.

He traded with/supplied to people interstate also and apparently was quite successful.

Also had fashionable clothing made to contract in a range of sizes for the budget market and stocked in his store,
importing it from the UK.

Ktmman,regarding the pocket watch,I have had a bit of a look at hallmarks and from what I have gathered I believe that the WE in the oval stands for William Ellerby,the lion and x means it was made in Birmingham between 1795 and 1796.

Pennies, tied for oldest coin again, though this one has been worn pretty much smooth on the front.

So there I was, sitting at my computer watching Addictedtobleeps on youtube when I thought to myself,why are you watching others do what you could be doing right now. So chucked the gear in the ute and headed out to the field for a swing.
And boy am I glad I did. First coin spill and all silvers. First English sixpence. First full house and another nice old penny.
Might have to head out tomorrow and see if I can find a Chrissie present for myself,maybe a Gothic florin?
