Getting a bit frustrated that shift work is interfering with my detecting so I decided to get out more often even if it's just for short hunts.
A quicky on the way to work tonight. A good spot. Only dug 2 bits of trash.
The 1924 penny unusually in good condition, more often than not one side is in good condition, whilst the obverse is toasted on those coins. Shame about the work, guess you've got to pay the bills somehow.
What do ya do after finishing 45 night shifts? Go detecting all day of course.
I had a slow and grumpy start to the hunt. I really shouldn't detect when I'm so tired. I dig a lot of trash and I bet I miss a lot of goodies as well.
I cheered up a bit after digging the silver pendant and the Matchbox sized toy boat. We saw the number of the Pastor on a small church so I gave her a call and we got permission to do the church yard. I am really glad we did as my first target was the 1936 sixpence and also got the toy gun in the church yard. I sent the Pastor pics of our finds and she gave permission to detect another church in the area before I even had a chance t ask.
I used to have a toy pistol like that, I remember I was watching Roy Rogers and going pow pow and the pistol left my right my hand and flew at the TV and hit it right on the edge of the set, put a dent in the aluminium surround I was s#%$g myself that I might have busted the TV, black and white back then, maybe 1964 65 ish.
Dam I'm getting old. Maybe that helps with dating it.
