I do have another Brittania, a penny but not quite as old and not as battered. Found it a few weeks ago.
Disappointed today as Rocket rang to see if I wanted to go detecting with him and Sandta. Mrs Ramjet had already made plans for us to go pick up something she bought for the grandkids. Bugger. So I put the detector in the car and Marg says I won't get to use it. After sorting the grandkids pressie we dropped into the father in law's and get asked to stay for dinner. OK with me, just point me to the nearest park.
A small field with a cricket pitch and I didn't think it would be much good. See an old toilet block at the far end and thought that it would be the best spot. So I basically did a quick lap of the park, just inside the fence. Definately be going back.
Apart from the coins I had a couple of interesting finds. Another padlock to add to my growing collection. The piece with the snakes may be part of a buckle. The lipstick case must have been there a while, it's all copper.
My favourite find of the day is the little Lesney tow truck.
Ended up not a bad day and then dad in law cooked roast lamb for dinner. Winning

Wow, not a bad spot for a detect on the run. I like finding those old Lesney toys, I have found a few so far but not as gooder condition as your little tow truck. Doesn't look like that spot has been hit before - look out silvers!
Great consolation
A piece I found yesterday and thought was just a bit of a broken hinge. Had a closer look and it's the bottom plate of a golf driver. FORE!

Ran over by a mower.
Back to my local this arvo. I went back over some of the area I covered 2 years ago when I first got my detector. Plenty of targets I missed then. So glad that I did. Got my new oldest coin. 1854 three pence. Beat my next oldest by 53 years. She's pretty battered but I love her just the same. One happy Ramjet.

So are there any rules about digging in local parks? Does the council allow it. Just curious as I live in an area that has some significant historical spots that I may like to have a try on.

Both 2 cent pieces. I wonder about how they get cut myself. I have Several cut cleanly. All coppers, 2 cents, half people nies and pennies. Seems too clean a cut to be a mower.
