Hi guys....hahahaha

I have got the ball rolling...by using the honey method?

I have had to deal with Qld fisheries and food saftey for 20years and several ministers soo this shouldnt be to bad.

At the moment im scouting around gathering intel gaining local support.
To gain momentum it must start at the bottom ....
Then let it spread like wild fire...
Main goal is to combine recreational activities, tourism and national parks as intrests to boost local economy around fossicking rich country towns.

I need intel from other Qld fossicking towns/areas...
If you live there bonus!
Such things like....
Is your town prospector friendly?
Does your town depend on travelers/tourists for income?

Get a feel for the people and see if they could benefit from a change...
Local historian
local mp
Test the waters so to speak..

My aim is to get as many Qld towns together as possible.
And launch them in to action all at once..
It makes a good media story.

I have local support from the historian club, town tourism and im seeing my mp next week....its taken me 3hrs of my time over a couple of days.
And it wasnt stressfull .

Help me help Qld ...Australian prospectors all under one act.

Yobskin, while starting from the bottom and the "local" towns and areas aspect may be best to get the authorities onside, perhaps the approach also needs to have a parallel side regarding how many tourists/prospectors are currently visiting and the upward and downward impact that change to rules/regs will have to the communities.

e.g. I plan to visit and spend 4 weeks in FNQ goldfields later this year and if things change that impacts my interest areas and activities, then I will go to WA instead. Hassles from authorities would definitely impact my attitude to spending time in Queensland.

This may mean a bit of survey work via the forum (if it is allowed) to sample the intentions of prospectors versus the say going to Queensland versus WA, etc, and the reasons for their decisions.

Also may be a waste of time, but it may add another bow to the quiver and allow others outside Queensland to assist you in you efforts.

Rob.

I'm heavily involved in the recreational fishing industry and a decade or so ago (and still today in some areas) we were faced with governments (and government departments) and greens that weren't listening in Victoria and seriously threatening recreational fishing in the state. We mobilised and made governments realise what we spent and ploghed back into the economy, much as the hunting groups have done more recently, and today we now have a state government (and the previous one) lock step with getting more people fishing, and heavily pumping money into the sport, and listening to what we want. Every angler, hunter and bush person spends money that can be quantified on 4wd, accommodation, camping/fishing/hunting gear, boats, food etc etc etc.
Prospecting would be no different i imagine with a concerted effort and single responsible body driving it?

Whenever they need to keep money in the economy they start to promote holiday destinations at home,... how about they get on-board and promote home based lifestyles that include county destinations with fossicking on the itinerary,... that'd keep millions of dollars floating around outback OZ.

To be completely honest with you... there is alot to address.
I feel once Qld prospectors have done there leg work and we get to the state level we will need the support of NSW and VICTORIAN prospecting associations and members to finish it.

We have to consider the impact of this change? And how it will effect the DNRM? The corrosive relationship between the DNRM and Qld prospectors is a result of the act. And there at the frontline coping it from every angle...i do sympathise for Craig Watson and the Brisbane office it wouldnt be an easy job.

I might give them a call today...

i wonder if the states actually know how many prospectors in QLD actually put their gold into the local economy? I think that's a figure worth looking into.

If it's anything like the Victorian governments used to work Golddig, they wouldn't have a clue. It's often necessary for an affiliated group to commission a reputable accounting firm to do the sums and this costs money! That's the beauty of fishing and hunting licences, you can quantify how many people are legitimately participating in those activities and then target them for answers.

I found out yesturday that gympie issues the most prospecting permits in all of Qld...i will find out the numbers today apparently some 14000 permits in two years?

I was also told yesterday that council is against the change??
I guess thats why they removed the water taps from the fossicking area next will be the rubbish bin?

Hahaha its funny how they manipulate things to get what they want....

Ok any Queenslanders want to join me on this it will need a few towns to make it noticeable.
I can only go forward with Gympie and surrounding areas atm.
I only need one person from each area to ask if prospecting tourism would be appreciated/welcomed...and report your findings to me so i can start contacting mp,s from that area.
I have been ringing with little success.. an in person approch is required. And i cant get around to easy.
So if ya could get out there and help it would be appreciated.

Thanx yobskin ;)

Nice one lee thanx mate.
Fellow prospectors this is not just for my own personal plea...
Its for the great good of our hobby and tourism for Qld.
Tourism.... help us help the qld battler. Small buisness in small rural towns.
I think perhaps a new thread i due to title this subject more appropriately .

I think its time, ROLL UP, ROLL UP !!!

Get some attension and a no win no pay lawyers...

Be VERY careful with lawyers, Yobskin. I am sure I heard on ABC radio or someplace quite recently that the whole "no win no pay" idea is bullshit. That the fine print reads something like "No win no pay Initial Discussion fee". But all the photocopying, telephone call, typing, dictating, fart-arsing around fees and (cough, cough) attending court fees are still oweing if you lose the court case.

These bastards aren't in business to lose money, believe me. :(
