Agree wholeheartedly with all the comments above, Cricket Australia must react quickly and all involved must be sanctioned heavily.

This is not the first time they have cheated.
It is the first time they got caught red handed. And even admitted to planning it.
That is the saddest part of all this, they actually planned it. It wasn't a spur of the moment thing.

It is no doubt that Smith will lose his captaincy for this, even his spot in the team.

If they had of won by cheating, would they feel proud? Just a dumb idea period. And the other guy should of said no, stood up to Smith or even reported it.
Instead he succumbed to pressure and followed through with it.

Big question is did the Coach know about it? And if he did, shouldn't he have to go too?

South Africa is also no better. Using lawyers to get their own way.
Sorry but cricket is a non contact sport, and hitting someone is also against the rules. And he walked, because lawyers stepped up.
I can see how that might have added to Australia's desperation with the tour, that and the personal abuse directed at peoples wives.

When we were kids in school, you didn't tease someone's mother, you would get your head knocked off.
If you had a problem with someone, you took it up with them, and about them. Not others.

Sledging had got out of hand, and the media just inflames it.

Still no excuse for cheating.

Totally agree a shameful day in Australian sport but what has made it worse is that we ( Australia ) have always taken the moral high ground on this sort of stuff saying we are above it and that is the real issue , even the under arm was within the laws of the game at the time but if you lead with your chin one day someone will hit it . Keeping it ( ball tampering) in context it is no different than than the Sth African captain found guilty last year , the lollie rubbing Poms a couple of years ago , a ball biting Pakistani and another Pakistani with a bottle top not far back . Not to mention match fixing South Africans and Indians .

As a former South African / Zimbabwean , I have to admire the way the Australian public has condemned this incident . I know the South Africans havnt been best behaved , but I never thought the public would be so outraged ! It shows that over all you are all a pretty honest lot , and Im proud to now be an Aussie .

I personally cant believe steve smith orchestrated this . He seems to be a genuine nice guy ! My bets are on Dave warner . As for the sledging , please dont tell me the aussies have not gone below the belt !

There was the famous dale Steyn / Michael Clark incident , where dale steyn still wont talk to Michael Clark , after some below the belt comments made by Michael Clark , during a match.

I reckon hot -headed Dave warner could be the ring leader , but thats just my hunch .

Again, may you all hold your heads high , as a moral bunch of citizens .
