Can't help you with Victoria locations but can offer some of my advice,

Get out there fella and forget the bad, if only for a little while

(p.s.) anything in your pan from a creek away from most of society looks good!

Search the council areas as some are seeing the dollar in prospecting and are more accepting. I think it was Loddon shire, however someone here should be know. I will post if I can find the article again.
