Hi thanks for adding me to this group.

I am wanting to have this rock tested here on the Gold Coast. It was my fathers and it was given to him from a great uncle that struck gold in Kalgoorlie in the 1800’s

The significance is It was the tracer? Or something similar, meaning it was the start of his strike. It is supposed to be rich in metals more precious than gold? Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.

I had this ugly gold button that I couldn't get to look like gold.

One day I was driving around the industrial area and spotted a couple sorting drill cores. That's the cylindrical rock pieces brought out from their diamond drilling during exploration. I figured they might have a XRF machine so I went in an asked. The girl said that they did but they were not sure where it was. In the end they decided it was back at the house so invited me there after work.

When I called in they'd found the machine was in a locked cabinet and neither knew the code so asked if I could come back in a couple of days which I did. They enjoyed sitting on the lounge room floor playing with their toy. It was 88% gold so I was happy to leave it like that and ended up selling it to the refinery. I did bring the printout home but I can't remember where it is now but it didn't cost me anything and they enjoyed the experience.
