Scrouger,
I love the eye (glint) and powerful beak - looks incredibly predatory - will love to see the claws and wings. You're very talented as I wish I were. I've collected some fantastic wooden sculptures from Mexico, but your start puts them to shame. I'm an engineer without an artistic bone in me. :(

Looking good Scrounger, love birds of prey, I sat & watched & listened too what I think was Whistling Kytes the other day while panning out bush, one sat in a tree not far away watching me, great birds. Will be good to see your finished pic.

mate i couldnt draw like that even if i traced it! awesome!
Thanks Numpty. I appreciate that :)
I like eagles mate, they make an excellent subject for artwork! Nice sketch work indeed. :8

Have you seen the new colored graphite sets? I might order a set, probably 24 pencils (come 12 or 24 colors) as of right now all the color is yet in the planning stages.

No RRD, post a pic of them if you purchase some. I've got a few coloured pencil sets but i've only used a few times as i'm not a big fan on how the artwork looks when i've used them. The colours always look a bit 'starved' of intensity imo, but that's probably also due to how i'm using them.

mate that is incredible, have you ever thought about doing a time lapse video from start to finish, obviously you would need to do it in a few sittings but would be great to see i think

If you have a good cam, such as the Sony HandyCam.....you don't need a camera setup. When first started doing my video sketching, got out the tripod which somehow broke off, the holder part as I pulled it from stuff in the closet. Glad my tripod broke because now have found a better way. Improvise and make yourself a holder to set cam on, set that on your dresser top or whatever else is the right height.

No, i don't own a camcorder at all RRD. The other problem would be that i do this type of art on a flat plane, not on an easel like i do for my oils and acrylics. So even if i did have the camcorder i would have to rig it so it was above me looking down on the artwork. All too much effort for me i'm afraid. I'm a pretty lazy artist

Movie making in itself can be an art, learning to make, cut and edit clips, adding still shots from the digital camera.
You sound like my wife RRD. She's always trying to find something else i can do with my 'spare' time    All good mate ;)

Shaping up nicely Scrounger,..... you could do some great ancient egyptian stuff mate,... eagle head on man body etc etc.
would certainly make a great showing,.... maybe with an aussie flair, ancient australian with local wildlife heads,... doing aussie things like making boomerangs, hunting, fishing, canoeing etc etc,.... you could let it do the grand tour and make your money on the value add side,... keeping the originals yourself of course ! ;)
I can see it for you in my minds eye, would be something no one else could do like you. :D

Thanks GD. Bloody hell silver, if i took on your suggestions i'd need a manager mate. i like the idea though :) :)

Nice work as usual Scrounger and nice carving as well 'dam it' ......lt of talent out there amongst the forum members.
Here's another one ...... FlasinthePan, does metal sculpting from old iron, farm machinery and assorted scraps. Look up "Hectic Eclectic" on Facebook to see more of his work, some good work, worth a look.
Cheers T.
