Gold isnt as rare as alot of things , you will find gold most times you go looking , winning lotto tickets are rarer , or if you found a woman worth marrying every time you looked you would have a house full . :playful:

Rare items to me are once or twice in a lifetime with a chance of never finding one, gold is easy its the scale or quantity thats difficult.
If they stumbled onto 9 millions tons of gold and it dropped the price to 20 cents an ounce i would still go looking as theres something that tweeks in my little brain when a peice comes out of the dirt. :goldnugget: :Y: i think they refer to that as gold fever :D

When you consider how many tons of gold were found in the 1800's - relatively, it wasn't that rare here! They were picking it up off the surface in some places.
Now it's harder to find, because they found a lot of it during the gold rush.
But it's still out there - they didn't search everywhere! :goldnugget: :pickshovel:

The harder it becomes to find.... the happier you will be to just get a bit..... 100yrs time, people will do back flips over 0.25 of a gram. But imagine the gold price as well!
Self contentment is a big thing prospecting,
The old timers had to find an ounce per week to keep alive....

I'm with you there, even if it was as common as lead I would still feel the same way about it.
