Bizzare dot patterns on the left side there, not sure what to make of that, also has some copper oxidation on the ironstone inclusions as well, very interesting. Looks more like gold in that pic, plus it has some definite weight to it, and the fact that it is malleable and has a gold streak may indicate a fantastic find.
 
I'd say the bag marks could be where someone has squeezed the amalgam to remove the quicksilver.(maybe), just a thought(the mad hatter).
The boy with the ball is from a printing press(printing pattern), it would have been from an add or maybe even in a sewing pattern packet printing(remember them) or something from that era. Sometimes I have found 3 x 1 inch blocks about 1/8th of an inch thick with copy type on the one long edge used for printing(it's all mirror wording).It's a good piece that you've found, I've also found picture bits sometimes(not as nice as yours though, mine would of went for lead).
 
Bag marks would definitely explain it, looks to be a join in the middle of the nugget that does not look natural.
