Had a talk to the Miners Den people at the Caravan Expo (Melb Showgroungs) ... nothing new to add, no brochure, no machine just the same 1 page flyer tacked to the wall.

Not sure how it will be determined that it's better than the current GPX ....... BUT he one thing the GPZ will show, because of it's SDC like switch on and go capability is that there were many operators out there walking over gold because that had the wrong settings/coil combinations.

I know how inexperienced I am with my 4800 so know that anyone walking behind me with a GPZ has a good chance of picking up what my inexperience missed .......

Yes, have seen that and the videos, all looks great (very tempting) ...... if I were the Miners Den rep I would have had copies of that on hand AND had the videos playing as well.
Then again they're the sales experts, what would I know....

mate the Australian retailers have been getting the raw end... minelab usa keeps leaking info and making the aussies look bad trust me if they were allowed to by Minelab Australia they would have had them printed..., they all signed off on not allowed to share until after the 18th.

I guess we (aussies) take our non disclosure agreements as what they are....

no news on my front mate.... still baking in the oven... cant be long now....

Interesting comparison (basic 11" mono on the 5000, good to see they also compared it with a 15 x 12) For 4500 users, we would need to use a wider range of coils, especially on small gold (a joey for example) to match these comparisons. 4500/5000 probably still in the ball park for medium responses but this thing may just be a killer in small and large nugget response areas. The rest?

All in all, the pursuit of a hobby, sport, or interest can be rewarding on so many levels that it seems pointless to weigh the cost against the benefits. Totally agreed on your points! It will be interesting to see those GPZ-GPX comparisons done with good NF, or similar good aftermarket coils and an experienced operator in gold bearing ground once released. Seems the depth test done on the ML GPZ introduction video (though slightly crude) is impressive so far for 'out of the box' use and the standard coil. Looking forward to seeing the more extreme incidents of EMI handling too.

Some great points raised here and there through this thread. I'd have to say I'd love to own one too, particularly if I were prospecting in deeper gold country -I would have put my deposit down on the GPZ long ago, but fortunately most areas we prospect are only shallow (mostly surfacing) so the SDC/5K combo will easily suffice nicely for now. I definitely haven't lost any faith in those machines just yet. The 'ol SDC isn't that far off paying for itself now.

Great to see this technology advancing decently. That price is slightly scary -though it's nothing a seven or eight ounce lump won't cover I guess. We just need to swing the old coil over one and bingo! GPZ in the bag. Sounds easy in theory

A little something I was privy to yesterday. Apparently during early testing the gpz was very unstable. It has been dumb down to get it to where it is now. Just imagine how good it will be if they can get it to work at its full potential! I'm sure Bruce will figure it out

As wolf said! But I'll add, there is so much ground out there it will take years before the 7000 covers any serious amount of it. If there is great success met with in the 7000 you'll have plenty of time to join in.

Just take a look at the last 87ouncer found at less
Than 12" a short while ago.

Thats my view anyway.
