Got out last night for a swing at the local beach, after an hour of silence with no beeps I changed the threshold to 8 on the nox from 4 and was soon pinging signals, a few coins gathered up before hitting the silvers spot.
Another thrippy 1961 and a penny, half penny in rather good shape.
Still don't know why one area has the older coins but it is still a spot to be worked over as the sand shifts.

Can anyone I.d this? Many different sizes popping up.

While the weather is good I'll be back at it again tonight, until next time happy detecting.

It's a copper boat nail fitted with a rove. The rove is a small copper disc placed on the nail after it is driven into the hull and the rove is then driven down the nail very tightly, the nail is cut off and riveted over with a hammer. A very common method of building clinker boats. Could be remains of an old boat that has disintegrated there.

Well I shall continue to work that spot, only 1 of two spots with rocks so using the large beach scoop can be tedious at times. Thanks for the information. :Y:

Out this arvo for a quick swing with the wife and 3 daughters. Managed to get a few coins minus $3.50 for 5 McDonald's ice cream cones.
Two loud low tones gave me a florin 1957 and a penny 1956, not sure of the sixpence though and two very worn brown buggers.

Heading out tonight for a low tide swing..
Cheers Gda :Y:

I've been out a few times over thd last couple of weeks but only finding coins.
Tonight I go out for a swing with my daughter Kiara and we found $1.85 after 30 mins, I say to Kiara let's go and get dinner and she says just 5 more minutes or have you pretty much given up. I say yup but we stayed the extra 5 minutes. That was all it took to get a loud booming signal, 20 tid on the nox which had me thinking $2 but I was surprised with the beautiful sight of an opal. Anyway satisfied with my find we left to get KFC.. Lol

Yeah Smoky well worth it and Silver same here but I had to get dinner and left the beach in the nick of time... Of note the ring is from Michael Hill jewellers and it has 2 initials in it so it may be a return like the Opal necklace. :Y:

Been a while since I could get out for a decent dig. Hit a beach that always produces around the beach huts but I only got 3x50c. I noticed there was a huge cut but what caught my interest this time was all the sand in the water had gone revealing rocks, I hit the wet sand and was pulling up 5c 10c 20c 50c and the odd Dollar. Was only 18 celcius but the sun was warm and instead of leaving the Beach after an hours detect with my wife and 3 little ones in tow I decide to hit the water and glad I did, you could literally see the coins just sitting there which made for easy picking. A little over $80 for my 2 hour water hunt which is a record hoard for me.

The wife and I go to buy some kebabs around thd corner from home at midnight, for 4 meals it cost $50 and the best thing was looking on the ground to find a $50 note which gave us a free meal.
Until next time happy detecting.

Yeah the sixer was a nice surface find... I saw two blokes the other week detecting in the water, same spot but it was covered with sand... ? Gonna hit it on Saturday weather permitting...

Managed to get out today for a swing, hit one beach that usually produces but it only gave me a thrippy and lots of 1c coins.
Headed off to my water cut and pulled in a little over $20 during high tide, I was chest deep and noticed my scoop was flimsy, ugh the bend snapped in it and so I need to get it fixed... I shall be back to that spot again soon, the weather forecast for the week coming is hot hot hot.

I could imagine there will be a few detectorists ready to get out and about with all that hot weather on its way. Chest deep in the water is probably a good place to be over the next week or so chasing some gold rings. Which scoop are you using?
