I have always been keen to engrave out the end of a steel bar and make my own hammered tokens for the family

Would be a very limited production run. 1 Wally, 2 Wally , 3 Wally.....oops run out of gold

I didnt think you owned a twenty cent coin , surely this medallion will have a smiley face one side and a ten cent coin on the other.

As legal tender it is illegal as far as I am aware to use the design of any side of a coin that is legal tender. I could be wrong and if I am then I apologise for this.

Had another play this arvo .
But I have noticed these little black balls ???

I think they are Borax slag :/ anyway so the other day I put 5-6 in a bottle of water and forgot about it .
Noticed it to day and water was all cloudy but a few
Heavies in the bottom :| got them out they were
Pretty hard put one On the bench and tapped with hammer.... It laughed at me.
So hit it a bit harder chite it took off at the speed of
Light . Put the other one on the bench put my fingers around it and tapped it and it got away as well :| :| Gathered up today's little black balls and

And found this little mother humpa

Yeah they are definitely slag. They also can sometimes trap the molten metal inside (as you found out) and when you pour the metal, the slag is usually last to come out. It can be chipped of if it solidifies on your metal or you can stop the slag before it falls out and pour it onto some steel or such so it doesn't burn or melt anything.

Righto then
So the other day-week I put some of last years wins (45-46 grams ) in the furnace

24 Ct is way more fun to play with than 14Ct scrap
But it still runs out of the crucible :| Very fast :| its a balancing act when trying to pour .
Its either in the crucible or rolling out of it at the speed of a thousand jets !!! dam it :/
But I will work it out . More Gold it the crucible seems a little easier to control :Y:
