These look like natural Aussie stones to me but there are heaps of gemstone scammers on ebay but hey they'd look awesome in a medallion none the less.

So I got an Electric furnace

Also a couple of Graphite 50x50x20 blocks from eBay as suggested by 7.62mm :Y: and carved with Dremel

Had a melt

Learned a few things from this
I am going to have another melt this arvo

I didnt think you owned a twenty cent coin , surely this medallion will have a smiley face one side and a ten cent coin on the other.

I made the hole in the mold deeper by 1mm to make the pour a bit easier :|
It is not an easy thing to do with a large crucible :| but practice makes things gooda

So now I need about 4-5 grams more of 14 caret scrap .Or make a smaller hole .

I will get my technique a bit better before I start putting detail on it .
But it is a FUN thing to do this gold went into the pot 3 times TODAY

I got it off ebay $380-$390 free post and was in AUSTRALIA :Y:
Replacement Crucible,s 1kg,2kg are available around $30-$40
240 Volt ... 1100 Degrees Temp
From turning on and setting temp takes 30 minutes and I was pouring ( was only about 10.5 grams )
May take a little longer for more Gold .
And is loads of FUN but a little scary as well
Happy to answer any more questions but this is all new to me

Many thanks mate! That answered the questions I had, -:how much and where from.

I have a little graphite crucible I have been using for years and just do one and two ounce buttons but it take a while just using map gas and no way I can do bars so this thing might just be the go.

As legal tender it is illegal as far as I am aware to use the design of any side of a coin that is legal tender. I could be wrong and if I am then I apologise for this.
