Hi all,

Hope everyone had a safe break.

Got bugger all down the coast. Only a couple of $ but was still fun testing out the Ace on the beaches.

Drove out to the old race track this arvo but there were a couple of young foals paddocked in it so though I better leave them be. Drove to an old football/cricket oval and got a load of BB's and some modern voi s as well as a 51 Hp and a 52 Penny...

Trash...

Feel a bit let down after ringing so much silver before but oh well there will be many more opportunities.

Mike.

Well finally went back to the old race track and went over the same ground I had been over before. Only thing different was I had sensitivity at max.

Loads of junk...

Could not believe my luck. The TWO Florins were within half a meter of each other!!!!!!!!

Woooot

I keep reminding myself that I need to find goldies to prove to my wife that this hobbie will pay for itself but cannot get away from the silver fever!

Cheers!!!
Mike... :D

Haha! I hear that mate+ When I got mine we talked about how many $2 and $1 coins I would need. And every time I bring home something that's not that Mrs GT cringes, she can't understand my excitement at Florins! Love the share, nice work.

Mike,...maybe you could get one of the florins or shillings(depending on her finger size) made into a coin ring for your missus,..that way she can see the merit in old coins as well as goldies.
You are doing it all perfectly now,...bit at a time, and keep a tight lip about your whereabouts to all in your circle(loose lips sink ships), that way all that silver will end up in your album(looks nice like that) where it should,..and your Mrs will see it growing, and all the satisfaction that you get out of it(she may even want a tecta of her own so she can join you on the hunt once you find another good spot).

She is not getting any of my coins ..... My precious!!!!

Had a jaunt to another afl ground last night, forgot to take pics of my trash which is a shame as there was loads.

Found a couple of BB's... They always get me excited with there clear ringing tone

Quite happy with them all but especially the 1910 as this was the first ever Australian Sixpence minted but most of you probably already know that.... :p

Happy Hunting
Mike :D

Great finds, your daughter should love that chunky locket

1891 - what a year
Edward Hargraves ( gold prospector) died
The electric start motor car was patented
The motion picture camera was patented
and 6 horses died in a hail storm in the US

I tend to think about each artifact that I pull out of the ground and who dropped it and what the 'times' may have looked like.

Unfortunately Wagga iI am not aware of anything of historical significance in 1891 but interestingly there was a census, and the population consisted of 2361 men and 2235 women. I wonder what you could have bought for a penny back then?

It is amazing what is preserved as history, 6 dead horses from a hail storm ........ Must have been big hail to knock a horse senseless. ;)

Great idea Wally. I'll put that into practice with coins I find.

Hi all,

Been awhile but finally got outside again to swing the ding!

Found an old primary school that closed back in the mid 70's and is now a men's shed. Spoke to the members and they gave me the all clear to have a poke around.

The trash...

Been too long, forgot how relaxing it is to just zone out and walk! ?

Hope everyone is walking over it!!!

Mike! ?

Great stuff Mike, nice of the guys to let you have a bow peep around the old school yard.(great medallion, I like the old boy on it).

Some cool finds there Mike, somehow missed some of your previous posts with the pre-decs and ring, you are killing it. ;)

The medallion is a beauty, looks like it's in excellent condition and should clean up well. :)

Love this thread, awesome finds. Are you descriminating everything out, except for the last 4 bars? I have started to do this, but am concerned I may miss the three and sixpense silvers. I dont have any to test with either.
