I've been around gold fields most of my life and still never take it for granted that I know enough to stay out of danger.
As the years go by we will be exposed to these dangers more often, as exposure to weather, earth tremors and even the after effects of bushfires burning away vegetation which holds the earth together, or even making more area's clear or exposed for exploration available.
Keep your eye's open and be attentive to any hollow sounds when walking or digging.
